India Visa for Cypriot Nationals

Citizens from Cyprus are eligible to apply for an Indian eVisa. The eVisa is an online travel permit introduced by the Indian government in 2014. Initially referred to as an electronic travel authorization (ETA), it was later renamed as the eVisa in 2017. It facilitates entry and stays for temporary visits to India for Cypriot passport holders.

Indian eVisa Types for Cypriots

Cypriot travelers have 4 different types of INDIAN VISA FOR CYPRIOT CITIZENS to choose from. They can go to India for any of the following reasons with an online visa:

  • Tourism activities
  • Business opportunities
  • Medical Treatment
  • Accompanying a family member undergoing medical treatment

Cypriot passport holders interested to travel India for any other reason must seek an embassy or consular visa at the Indian High Commission in Nicosia.

The Indian Tourist eVisa for Cypriot citizens

Cypriot tourists can travel to India for relaxation and cultural activities with the India Tourist visa. This online visa also grants entry to stay with family members or friends residing in India. It is valid for a full year and allows a stay in INDIAN VISA FOR BRUNEI CITIZENS for 90 days. It is a double-entry electronic visa that authorizes Cypriot nationals to visit a neighboring country in the middle of their holiday in India without needing a new permit.

The Indian Business eVisa for professionals from Cyprus

Cypriot nationals are eligible to visit India for business purposes with the India Business Visa. This online visa is aimed at professionals arriving in India to provide professional services or attend business conferences. It is a double-entry visavalid for a year, and grants permanence in the country for 180 days.

Traveling to India from Cyprus for medical treatments

Cyprus passport holders are authorized to enter India if they require specific medical treatment. The Indian government offers two different types of online visas for these situations.

Cypriot patients traveling to be treated at a confirmed hospital in India are eligible for the India Medical Visa. Additionally, direct family members of Cypriots with an India Medical Visa can accompany them by requesting the India Medical Attendant Visa. Both online visas grant triple-entry into India and allow their holders a stay of up to 60 days.

Requirements to Obtain The India e-Visa From Cyprus

Cypriot nationals must check they meet the India eVisa requirements and have the necessary information (detailed below) at hand before applying:

  • A Cypriot passport which must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival into the country
  • passport-style photo following the India eVisa photo requirements in JPEG format
  • A digital image of the biographical page of their passport
  • A current email address which the Indian government will use as the primary communication with the
  • Cypriot applicants, including the issuance of successful eVisas
  • A working debit or credit card to pay for the visa processing fee

Besides this information, Cypriots will have to ensure they have the details regarding their travel plans, such as the accommodation address, expected ports of entry, plus places they plan to visit ready before filling out the application form.

Cypriot professionals applying for the Business eVisa will also have to have details of the Indian company such as an address, telephone number, and an official invitation letter.

Besides meeting the requirements mentioned above, Cypriot patients and family members must also have an official invitation letter from the Indian hospital where they will be treated. They will also have to answer some questions about the hospital they have chosen.

Apply for an Indian eVisa From Cyprus

Travelers from Cyprus can proceed to the application form for the India eVisa once they confirm they meet the requirements mentioned previously. This form is a standard questionnaire that takes approximately 15 minutes to fill.

The Cypriot applicants will begin by answering the following rudimentary questions:

They will then proceed to answer some personal questions, such as their marital status or religion. It is essential that Cypriot citizens fill out the questionnaire, answer truthfully, and check their replies thoroughly. Any typo or mismatch can lead to a delay in the evaluation process by the Indian government or a rejection.

Once they have addressed these questions, they will finalize the application form by paying the eVisa processing fee. As mentioned earlier, Cypriots must use a debit or credit card with sufficient funds and authorized for online transactions.

The Indian authorities revise the forms received by Cypriot nationals and usually reply before 4 days. Upon confirmation the requests they have received are eligible; they will send the approved eVisa to the Cypriot applicants via the email they used while registering as an attachment in PDF form. Successful applicants from Cyprus have to print out a copy of their eVisa and carry it along with their passport when entering India.

Traveling to India from Cyprus

Once Cypriot citizens have received their eVisa from the Indian government are legally authorized to enter India. As mentioned above, they must print out a copy of their approved eVisa to display at passport controls when entering the country. There are a total of 26 designated airports and 5 designated seaports that allow entries with the India eVisa from which nationals from Cyprus can arrive hassle-free.

Cyprus visitors stay in India with the eVisa

Cyprus citizens in India should adhere to the allowed number of days on their specific eVisa. They should note the Indian eVisa cannot be extended and should plan their entry and exit dates into the country summarized below:

  • India Tourist eVisa – allowed 90 days.
  • India Business eVisa – permitted 180 days.
  • India Medical eVisa and India Medical attendant eVisa – granted 60 days.

It is important to note that overstaying the eVisa in India can have legal consequences for Cypriot nationals, such as fines, and possibly barring them from returning to their country in the future.
